Real Madrid clinched the Spanish Super Cup title for the 13th time in its history following a resounding 4-1 victory over its traditional rival Barcelona in the final held in Saudi Arabia.
Brazilian star Vinicius Junior played a heroic role in the match, which took place at the “Al-Ula Park” stadium in the Saudi capital Riyadh. He scored Real Madrid’s first two goals at the 7th and 10th minutes, and the third from a penalty kick at the 39th minute. His fellow countryman Rodrygo added the fourth goal in the 64th minute.

On the other hand, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was responsible for Barcelona’s only goal in the 33rd minute, before the Catalan team was reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of player Ronald Araujo in the 71st minute for his second yellow card.
Real Madrid, which participated in the competition after winning the Copa del Rey title last season, advanced to the final of the Super Cup after a 5-3 victory over its fierce neighbor Atletico Madrid after extra time in last Wednesday’s semi-final.
Meanwhile, Barcelona qualified for the final after winning the Spanish League last season and earning their place in the Super Cup. They advanced after defeating Osasuna with two goals to nil in the other semifinal match last Thursday.
This marks Real Madrid’s second victory over Barcelona in various competitions this season, having previously beaten them 2-1 in their La Liga match this past October.
Real Madrid has also narrowed the gap with Barcelona, who hold the record for the most Spanish Super Cup wins, to just one title.
