The World Health Organization has described the "actual destruction" of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza Strip due to an Israeli military operation as "horrifying". According to the United Nations body, this ordeal resulted in the death of at least 8 patients.
In a post by the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the X platform, he noted that "Several healthcare workers were arrested, and the World Health Organization and its partners are urgently seeking information about their situation."
He also pointed out that "many patients were forced to self-evacuate amidst risks to their health and security, as ambulances could not reach the facility."

Tedros continued, "Among the patients who died were many who passed away due to the lack of appropriate healthcare, including a 9-year-old child," expressing "extreme concern for the safety of internally displaced people who sought refuge in the hospital."
He emphasized that the health system in Gaza was already suffering before the hospital's destruction, adding that "the loss of another hospital, even one that was functioning minimally, is a tremendous blow."
